In December of 2007, I reported on Pat Robertson stepping down as Chief Executive of CBN, with his son Gordon Robertson replacing him. Pat will still be an active member of the network as he retains the position of Chairman of the Board.
I then went on to claim some “prophecies” he made concerning the year 2007:
Pat Robertson was off and running in the New Year with yet another prophecy of impending doom. Apparently reacting to the Democrat takeover of the Congress, the great prognosticator told his 700 Club audience on Tuesday, January 2nd, that a terrorist attack on this country would cause "mass killing" later in the year. "I'm not necessarily saying it's going to be nuclear," he told he eager listeners.
“The Lord didn't say nuclear. But I do believe it will be something like that.”
He said further that God told him about the impending tragedy during a recent prayer retreat. God also said that major cities and possibly millions of people will be affected by the attack, which should take place sometime after September. -
Here’s another one of his prophecies:
“The world will never receive me (God in Christ), but hundreds of millions will. 2007 will be the final year for my great revelation of my love and forgiveness. Expect miracles beyond anything that you dreamed possible. Demons will be cast out. There will be miracles of healing greater than the world has ever known. Vast multitudes will find salvation. It will be so glorious that you will feel that heaven has come down to earth.
In an attempt to be gracious and give him a little “buffer”, I decided to wait until mid month before I wrote this article. However, that graciousness hasn’t helped his “prophecies” at all.
I’ve been searching all over the internet, as well as various news publications (including the dubious tabloids) to see if there was a major terrorist attack on one of
As for miracles beyond anything that we have dreamed possible (hmmm, I guess the miracle of Christ rising from the dead and the miracle of salvation through Him isn’t that great anymore?), and miracles of healing greater then the world has ever known, I don’t see many evidence of that either. As a matter of fact, there have been some pretty scary reports recently of new and deadly viruses.
There were vast multitudes finding salvation? Personally, I think that would be great, but what we have really seen are mass multitudes turning further away from the Lord. No, there has not been anything close to a great revival.
But thankfully, Pat Robertson has “stood up to bat” once again to give his predictions for 2008!
Sonja Barisic, an Associated Press writer, reported on his new “revelations.”
NORFOLK, Va. - Religious broadcaster Pat Robertson said Wednesday that 2008 will be a year of violence worldwide and a recession in the United States, followed by a major stock-market crash by 2010.
"We will see the presence of angels and we will see an intensification of miracles around the world, which I think is going to be a wonderful thing," he said.
I went to his official site, PatRobertson.com, and have yet to see any press releases for 2008. Apparently, he has either learned something from last year and has decided to hide from such obscene comments, or the webmaster is really slow in updating content.
I then went to the CBN.com to take a look at what they are currently “pushing” as of
They are:
Lord, Bless My Plate – where the guest writer petitions us to pray specifically before eating, that instead of just giving thanks, we should ask for specific benefits. She uses a story (that I would LOVE to see verified) about a “miracle” of God multiplying food for a football team, so that all would have enough to eat. Sure, Christ did this in His ministry, and I won’t say that miracles don’t happen, but this seems a little “fishy” to me (excuse the pun please).
Many people make detailed requests in their prayers. Likewise, we should think about exactly what we desire food to do for our bodies and then pray specifically about it. I often say something like this: "Dear Lord, thank You for providing this nutritious meal. Please bless the food and allow it to nourish and energize my body. Protect my cells from any harmful impurities that entered the food from the environment or through processing. In Jesus’ name, amen." (emphasis mine)
Asking God to bless our meals is wise from a spiritual standpoint and prudent for our health. He wants the best for us in everything, including our food. Whether you're dining alone or chowing down with a football team, make it a point to pray over your next meal.
Yeah, I guess having faith in God to bless without having to mention specifics, and just relying upon our creator to provide for all our needs just isn’t enough anymore.
Live Your Perfect Weight – This articles informs us how to loose weight and save the planet simultaneously!
“I’ve seen that it’s possible to take weight off people’s frames as well as the planet,” explains Rubin. “It’s about personal and global sustainability. The program covers everything from eating local and organic to simple steps to living ‘green’ and reducing your carbon footprint to save the environment.
Detoxify and Loose Weight – This article seems logical and of good sense until you read a bit further in to find out that CBN has found a magical recipe that will take care of it for you! Why bother going anywhere else when they can sell you good health?
For an easy and quick way to have more vegetables, we created our special formula of supplement called SlimGreens, and our whole family has been mixing it into vegetable juice or fruit juice. It contains a great mix of vegetables and fruits such as dulse, broccoli, kale, blueberry, cherry, and more.
I could (and probably will in the future) go on slamming Pat Robertson’s fallacies and lies, but in all honesty, he isn’t the “problem” all by himself. You see, it’s his gullible followers that give him the platform to make such ridiculous claims. There is no excuse for this. If they can read one of his books, or one of his articles, they can read the bible. Why don’t they pick it up, read what the bible has to say about false prophets, and take their head out of the sand from whence it has been stuck for years? If they don’t know where to start, they can read my previous entry regarding this travesty of a Christian. I have posted plenty there to get them started.
It’s his followers who fund his “ministry”. It’s his followers that give an open ear to what he has to say. It’s his followers’ blindness that continuously feeds his bloated ego.
It makes one wonder, considering the age Pat Robertson is at now, if he even considers the eternal consequences of his actions? He won’t be around much longer, and what will he do when he answers to God on His throne? Pat is only in it for the money, and because of this, he is dragging gullible people down with him. In addition, he has placed himself amongst other “Christian leaders” who continually cause the non-believing public to laugh at and scorn the faith. If it wasn’t for the solid relationship I have in Christ Jesus, I’d probably be laughing too!
Let’s finish this by going back to his recent statements:
Robertson also noted that one especially horrible prediction he made last year--that a terrorist act, possibly involving a nuclear weapon, would result in a mass killing in the United States--did not come to pass.
As for it not happening last year, Pat states:
"All I can think is that somehow the people of God prayed and God in his mercy spared us,"
