It’s time for our yearly “Pat Robertson Watch!”

In January, Pat again made some predictions which were covered by numerous news outlets. The video/interview concerning his predictions can be found at this link.

Before I analyze his newest batch of “prophecy,” I’d like to review what he proclaimed last year, and the results.

Last year he stated:

“that 2008 will be a year of violence worldwide and a recession in the United States, followed by a major stock-market crash by 2010.” He also added that “We will see the presence of angels and we will see an intensification of miracles around the world, which I think is going to be a wonderful thing.”

Let’s examine this, shall we?

It doesn’t take a “prophet” to analyze world news and tell us that there is going to be violence world wide. Considering the insurgence of Islam, the massacres that have been taking place all over the world by despot governments, the typical state of the African continent, as well as the on going war on terror, yes, violence was world wide. If you needed a “prophet” to tell you about this, I’d have to ask where you have been hiding all of this time.

In addition, with the rising of oil prices, the unstable world reacting to violence, and already strong indicators of financial unrest, many people were already preparing for a “world wide recession.” Indeed, Europe had already been going through one! Again, if you needed a “prophet” to advise you of this, where have you been?

Now on to the good stuff! Robertson stated that we were going to see the “presence of angels” and that we were going to see an “intensification of miracles” around the world. Unless I’ve been hiding under a rock somewhere, I have not notice any of these proclamations. Where have these angels been? Where are the many miracles that were supposed to have taken place? Well perhaps Mr. Robertson should clarify which type of angels he is discussing. Are they the fallen angels or the angels of the Lord? Considering the bible classifies angels as messengers (those that still serve God), the only other conclusion I can come to is increased demonic activity. Their “presence” is a sure explanation of the increased sin and lawlessness in the world. However, I’m quite positive that this is not that which Pat was referring to.

Now let us examine Pat’s newest “prophetic” claims. Below is a text of the speech he gave, as recorded on the video given in the link above. I’ll post it here and then analyze it in detail.

“The Lord said the economy of your nation will recover. The steps taken will lead to a dramatic increase in the power of government. The people will welcome socialism in order to relieve their pain. Nothing will stand in the way of a plan by Obama to restructure the economy in the same fashion as the new deal in the 30’s. America will never again have the power and the world that it has enjoyed since World War Two. With no strong leadership, dangerous dictators will arise in various parts of the world and will threaten the peace and security of millions of people. Russia will be the most dangerous and will lead the coalition to control the Middle East. Israel is entering a period of extreme crisis. A strong government that deals forcefully with the Palestinians will bring international condemnation and sanctions against Israel. But the lord will uphold his people despite world opinion. The whole of Islam is weakening. The violence and bloodshed has turned many against this religion of hate. And the Lord said, ‘Expand your outreach to Muslims. They are ready to listen.’ Great and cataclysmic things will become commonplace around the world. Poverty and misery will be wide spread. There has never been nor will there ever be a more propitious time for the gospel. People by the tens of millions will be seeking answers. They will gladly receive the forgiveness of sins bought by the death of Jesus Christ.”

Other claims made by him during the video interview are:

• (In regards to the economy) The lord is saying the recovery will be pretty swift. And that we’ll be recovered by the 2^nd quarter of next year. The stock market will turn around almost immediately. However, the Lord said the dollar is going to go down dramatically. Gold will be valued at $1,900 an ounce and oil will be priced at $300 per barrel. The time of the prophecy of Ezekiel 38 is at hand. As a result of hyper inflation, people with a fixed income will be decimated. They already are. Thus, people are not going to trust the United States any longer as the leader in financial sector.

• The Lord was saying that the position of leadership that the United Sates has had since World War Two will no longer be there. People will no longer trust us

• The Lord is saying that Islam is loosing its grip on its inheritance around the world due to its violence.

• Lord also said there will be a tremendous anointing of the holy spirit. As a result, there will be a tremendous amount of miracles.

• The Lord said he’s (Obama) going to get anything he wants. There will be the largest transfer of power to the government since the 30’s.

• “I hope I’ve heard the Lord. If there’s a mistake, it’s not His fault, its mine.”

Analysis

Nothing will stand in the way of a plan by Obama to restructure the economy in the same fashion as the new deal in the 30’s”

Pat starts off with his traditional “safe predictions.” If you notice in this general comment, no time frame has been given. He simply states that the economy will recover. When will that happen? Tomorrow? Next year? Two years from now? In his speech, he doesn’t clarify. Take a look at this and this and this.

He then goes on to state that government will grow, and the long arm of its “power” will increase. Come on, it doesn’t take a “prophet” to realize this. Indeed many atheists and agnostics know this. Why? Because that’s how the liberal left runs things! Hussein Obama had already been elected president. In addition, the Democrats took control of both the Senate and the House. Take a look at the presidencies of William “Play with My Cigar” Clinton and Jimmy “Betray the Country” Carter. Both of those had HUGE increases in governmental power. It took the Conservative Revolution lead by Ronald Reagan to downsize it. Unfortunately, neither of the Bushs agreed with Reagan.

Next, Pat states that the “people” will welcome socialism. Well Patty boy, you’re already off the mark there. Many of the “lap dog” media are already giving Hussien Obama low marks for his running of the government, and there are grass root movements popping up all over the United States to combat this socialistic government. In addition, his polling approval rates are lowering. To make matters even worse, some people are discussing succession from the Union! No Pat, people are most definitely NOT welcoming socialism! It goes without saying that there WILL be people standing in the way of Hussein Obama’s plan to restructure the economy!

Now of course, with all that being said, it is a given that numerous socialist policies will become law in this country. There are too many leftists and too many weak rightists to prevent all damage from happening. However, claiming that we as a nation are going to accept this is completely idiotic!

I would have to somewhat agree with this statement, though not because the “Lord told me.” Once more, you don’t have to be a “prophet” to recognize change in this country as well as its position amongst other world governments. But Pat, let’s be honest, ok? This is a generalization based on witnessing events that have already happened. There is nothing prophetic about this. Dangerous dictators have already risen. They have been around since time immortal. And they always threaten peace and security.

“Russia will be the most dangerous and will lead the coalition to control the Middle East.”

In the words of my generation, “No duh!” They have already been doing that by giving nuclear technology to Iran and supporting such extreme regimes. Again, you don’t need to be a prophet to make statements such as these!

“Israel is entering a period of extreme crisis. A strong government that deals forcefully with the Palestinians will bring international condemnation and sanctions against Israel. But the lord will uphold his people despite world opinion.”

Oh come on, Patty! It’s been like this ever since the reformation of the state of Israel! Every time Israel defends itself, fights back from the constant terrorism from its neighbors, the world always condemns them! But one thing is true, the Lord is upholding His people, keeping His promise.

“The whole of Islam is weakening. The violence and bloodshed has turned many against this religion of hate. And the Lord said, ‘Expand your outreach to Muslims. They are ready to listen.’”

This is so far from the truth, that I can’t even begin to wrap my head around the very idea that Pat would state this and that his gullible followers would believe it! Take a look at Europe! Take a look at Great Briton! Heck, take a look at our very own country! Far from Islam weakening, it’s growing in strength as Dhimmis the world over are cowering in fear! “Great and cataclysmic things will become commonplace around the world. Poverty and misery will be wide spread.

Patty boy, this is the same stuff you’ve been saying every year. If you keep saying it, you’re bound to get one year correct! Oh by the way, where are the tsunamis you promised us in 2006?

“There has never been nor will there ever be a more propitious time for the gospel. People by the tens of millions will be seeking answers. They will gladly receive the forgiveness of sins bought by the death of Jesus Christ.”

As much as I’d like to believe this, it’s simply very far from the truth. This is something else you’ve been promising year after year. Yet instead of this “great revival,” we see more and more people abandon God for the immediate self-satisfactions of sin.

If you take a close look at this, he’s giving us a time frame of 18 months. A lot can happen during that time. I don’t know Pat… we’ll see. How come you didn’t say 6 months? That would be pretty rapid! As far as the stock marked turning around immediately, well it’s been about three months since you made these “predictions” based on what the Lord “told you,” and instead of the market turning around, it’s actually declining quite rapidly!

I love how he throws this in there. He states that the economy will fix itself and the stock market will rapidly become stable and healthy again, yet the very next thing he states is that gold and oil prices will sky rocket. Um yeah… that sounds like a healthy recipe for a strong economy to me!

“The time of the prophecy of Ezekiel 38 is at hand.”

What is this prophecy? This is in reference to the end times when Russia will lead a coalition to attack Israel. Serious bible and prophecy students know that this happens during the second half of the Great Tribulation (after the Rapture). We aren’t even close. And even if the Rapture happened today, you’d still have to wait 3.5 years for this prophecy to come true!

As you already noted, Patty boy, people already are being hurt by what is going on in the financial sector. It didn’t just start happening this year. Oh by the way, the Dollar started dropping quite a while back. This is old news repackaged to sound like something new.

As sad as it makes me to say this, the above statement has been true for quite a few years. While the United States still holds the position of the last remaining Superpower, those days are quickly declining. Almost every other country in the world, either due to jealousy or what have you, has already turned their backs on us. They bad mouth us, hate us, yet still, when they’re in desperate need, come to us for help. Yet with the emergence of the European Union (a few years back) and other such “super states,” (which are in progress of forming) the pre-eminence of the United States is waning. Once more, old news repackaged into something “new.”

I’ve already addressed this absurdity.

What? No angels this time? I’m disappointed in you Patty! You make similar claims to this every year, and we’re still waiting to see it happen! Again, if you “prophesize” this stuff long enough, eventually it’ll happen.

“The Lord said he’s (Obama) going to get anything he wants. There will be the largest transfer of power to the government since the 30’s.”

Again, I’ve already addressed this.

“I hope I’ve heard the Lord. If there’s a mistake, it’s not His fault, its mine.”

Like any false prophet, Pat Robertson throws this in at the end. If you look at the Bible, how God communicated with his Prophets, there was never any room for “mistakes.” The Bible is so clear on this, that even if one “prophecy” was proven wrong, the penalty for this was death to the one falsely claiming to speak in the name of the Lord. If God spoke in vagaries where there were opportunities to misunderstand, God would not have required this.

Pat, in the strongest of terms, you are a false prophet! You falsely claim that every year you go “up to the mountain” (which mountain is this?), pray, communicate with the Lord, and then come back and speak this trash in His name! You are a shame to the Christian community and you will, someday, answer for this. The very creator of the Heavens and Earth will require you to defend yourself. Unfortunately for you, you will have no defense. Repent now, Pat, before it’s too late!

And to those of you who still follow after this evil man, why? Why would you trust your souls and eternal salvation to the lies one such as he preaches? Why would you go along with the laughing stock of the world and Christian community? Dump this guy, and fast!
