Words of Wisdom

Yesterday I had the honor of conversing with a man of great wisdom.

We were discussing politics during which he made a comment concerning the main difference between conservatives and liberals. He said:

“Liberals do not believe in God. Instead of looking towards Him for their security, they look towards the government to provide it, willing to give up their freedoms in the process. Those who do believe in God are almost always conservatives, knowing that man is filled with sin.”

While there are exceptions to this on both sides (some liberals do believe in God, while some conservatives do not), for the majority, this is an apt description.

The left’s rabid hatred of the right is quite evident in daily life. One needs only to view the liberal media of ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, and MSNBC to witness this. Upon browsing the internet and reading the news, one witnesses comments made by those who hold the liberal mindset to be filled with unreasoning hatred. Indeed, even on my blog such hate filled comments are made.

In addition, attacks on Christianity are mounting. Ignoring the devastation caused by humanistic faiths such as Socialism, Communism, and Humanism, hate filled attacks are consistently practiced. The Bible and Christianity have been ripped from public life. The Christian values of life itself have been replaced with atheistic views whereby abortion is acceptable and children are taught that they have no meaning - that they are alive only by chance. They are told that there are no moral absolutes, and that when they die, it is all over. They will enter into oblivion.

Last night while I was reading the first letter to the churches written by the Apostle John, this wise man’s comments came to mind once more.

1 John 3:1 states:

Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.

1 John 4:5-6 adds:

They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them. We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.

The Apostle John put to light exactly what is happening in this day and age. The world doesn’t know God. They are unable to recognize the Truth.

If you examine Europe, Russia and the liberal “sanctuaries” within our very nation, the reality is self evident. They have turned their backs completely to God. What is the result? Loss of precious freedoms as they look toward mankind to solve their problems. They believe in the fable of the “goodness” of man. As referenced in 1 John 2:16, their focus is on what pleasures the flesh can give them. They have given themselves over to lust and pride. Thus homosexuality, rampant free sex, drug use, abortion and innumerable other actions such as these do reign. If anyone dares contradict them, to prevent them from perusing these selfish desires, they spew forth hate in a venomous stream.

Yet this was not so with the Founding Fathers of this country. They were well aware of man’s sinful nature. They knew without a doubt that this “Great Experiment” would not be successful if God was taken out of politics. Yet, this is what sinful man has indeed done.

The war of political viewpoints that this nation finds itself in is actuality a spiritual war. It is a war between satanic lies and the Truth of God. Thus, it is no wonder that the left hates the right. We hold to the truth of man’s state. We will not place our security in the hands of sinful man, and that very stance is what causes the left to hate us so.

1 John 3:13 states it clearly:

Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hate you.

I am very thankful for my parents seeding within me a love for God and country. They taught me when I was young the Word of God. They continue to do so today. The wise man I mentioned in the beginning is my father. The words he mentioned were true, and though in humbleness he would disagree, his wisdom is indeed inspiring.
