A Victory, Sort Of

Leave it to the Democrats to include pro-homosexual legislation and back door amnesty in a defense bill. McCain rightfully blasted Reid for the inclusions.

The Hill reports:

McCain, who led the GOP filibuster, blamed Reid for the standoff. He mentioned the “Don’t ask, don’t tell” language and the DREAM Act, which would provide a pathway to citizenship for the children of illegal immigrants if those children serve in the military or attend college. Reid had pledged to bring up the DREAM Act as an amendment to the defense bill.

The thing is, any legal immigrant under a visa or what have you can gain permanent citizen status already by serving in the military. The question to ask is why would an illegal wish to serve if they're not willing to go through the citizenship process?  Would you feel safe and secure knowing that criminals are protecting you?  I know I wouldn't. This was also an obvious attempt to patronize the homosexual lobby by trying to allow openly gay people as soldiers. Whats next? Pink uniforms, assless leather chaps and whips being included in the military dress uniform code?

Indeed, leave it to the Democrats to risk harm to our military so that their far left agendas can be thrust down the throats of American citizens. Hopefully, the slime balls in congress can pass a funding bill for our military without all that other crap. Our nation, our military and our civilians deserve better.

As a side note, Reid voted against the bill (obviously so he can bring it up at a later date) but so did two other Democrats - Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor.  As the article mentions, Lincoln is up for re-election and is trailing badly in the poles.  So of course she'd vote this down.  She knows what America wants. Yet the sad truth is, if she wasn't up for re-election, she'd vote for the bill.  Politicians!
