Conservatives Speak

Listen to some great Conservatives speak out!

Hope

As has been reported, the career elites in Washington decided to abandon governing in the face of overwhelming voter apathy. As My Way News reports:

With their House and Senate majorities on the line, Democratic leaders called off votes and even debates on all controversial matters...Staying or going might seem an equally unpleasant prospect for some embattled Democrats, who are facing more than four weeks of defending unpopular votes in favor of Obama's economic stimulus measure, health care law and uncompleted legislation for curbing global warming.

The AP - shockingly - adds:

Battle-weary members of Congress are coming soon to neighborhoods near you to press for re-election, more willing to campaign before angry constituents than to compromise in Washington on tax cuts, child nutrition or a federal budget.

Now its obvious that Democrats don't want to vote on controversial issues before the November 2nd election.  They already have enough voter angst pointed in their direction. If they attempted to force additional legislature down the throats of the public, it would ensure defeat.  Yet this very inaction may have quite possibly sealed their political doom.

As most Conservatives sometimes complain, American's aren't stupid.  Gullible? Yes, but not stupid. There's an old saying that is quite relevant when discussing today's voters: "Fool me once, shame on me.  Fool me twice, shame on you." You see, the collective eyes of America have been opened.  They see the elites in Washington for what they really are.  Even Barney Frank is facing election troubles in ultra-liberal Massachusetts. Although probably not enough to prevent him from being re-elected, the mere fact that the threat exists reveals the determination of an angry public.

Politicians aren't stupid either. Although there are some exceptions (i.e. VP Biden), the majority understand the power of rhetoric and propaganda. Experts on manipulation, they have realized that lack of action in the remaining four weeks before the elections will be, and has been, recognized by "Joe Public" for what it is. Why then have they chosen this course? The answer is that they are scared.  In fact, they're terrified. They know how angry Americans have become towards those who have no regard for the Constitution or private rights.  It is their hope that they can use this expertise to persuade their constituents to keep them in office.

Do not underestimate the Elites. They will use every technique they know. Blame will be passed on to the former Bush administration; they will work to uncover dirt on their opponents; they will use charm to beguile the unlearned masses - focusing on charisma instead of context. They will even deny supporting the bills which they voted for.  Indeed, Ben Nelson (the Nebraska Democrat who is notorious and infamous amongst conservative circles for selling his state for his vote) has called for extensions of the Bush tax cuts.  How he proposes to continue funding for the massive Government take over of health care while at the same time lessening the fleecing of private citizens is an issue he has not yet addressed.  Yet by appealing to the independents of his state, Nelson is seeking to hide his Progressive agenda.  He hopes that they will forgive him for selling out America. Remember, is was Nelson's vote that ultimately allowed Obamacare to become law.  The House needed it, and he sold it to them.

I find it interesting that when their jobs are on the line, Democrats suddenly become centrists - leaning more towards the Conservative train of thought. Although November will tell, I don't think it will work this time. The assault on America led by the Marxists in the Oval Office have awakened the backbone of this country. The people are angry, and the politicians know this.

In fact, neither side of the political isle is safe. Long serving Republicans in states such as Utah and Alaska have already been voted out of their respective primaries.  And although McCain looks to remain in power, this is only because of his sudden transformation into a "warrior" for Conservatism. I only wish that Arizonians had a longer memory and it is my hope that the rest of America's voters aren't as easily duped.

So while many Americans are rightfully disgusted with Congress' cowardly retreat, I suggest that it should also be taken as a sign of hope.  True hope, not the kind Obama used to get into power.  The hope is that those who have taken this country town the road of Stalin, Mao and Castro will soon be voted out of office.  The hope is that they will be replaced by those who not only respect America, but fear her citizens - more specifically, their votes. The hope is that even though we have been led down this dark path, America will arise from the ashes of corruption and be all the more stronger for it.

Let's hope.

And they say Conservatives are full of hate...

How many times have you been accused of being hateful and bigoted? How many times have you been shouted down because you stand for what is fiscally and morally right? Well guess what, your the American version of the Taloban, according to Florida Democrat Alan Grayson.  Watch for yourself:

The Raw Story, which did a report concerning this, is filled with venomous hate filled comments from the left. I'm going to post some of them here for you to read.  These were the most recent ones at the time I visited.  I decided to take only these instead of forcing you to read all the filth.  But feel free to go to the article to read them all if you wish. Trust me, this is only a skimming. Warning, they are not for the easily offended.

I really like that the term "American Taliban" has become synonymous with the right wing, GOP republicans, tea baggers, what ever they try to brand them selves as, this new term has been properly assigned and it's sticking to them.

That's exactly what they are, American Taliban = our own home grown extremists.

There is a street in my neighborhood that is being repaved and the rain run-off is finally being routed out of people's property. After 40 years, the job is finally being done right.

It is using stimulus money and it is claimed that it employs 23 full-time employees for 9 months. My observation is that it has employed many more people than that. There is no sign up saying "Your Stimulus Money At Work" but there ought to be.

Should have been done 30 years ago. I would like to see more if this, like exposing the christian madrassas that pass for schools. The christian taliban that builds a $25M? museum to show evolution is wrong (My note: this person is referencing the AiG Creation Museum) . The christian 'national prayer breakfasts' that promote a Jesus for the powerful and wealthy. This cult needs the anti-septic of sunshine. Oh please Oliver Stone, please do a modern remake of Elmer Gantry. Please! ;)

Finally a Democrat that understands how to defuse a Republican. You frighten the paranoid base of their party.

Ahh yeah.  The Right, the Tea Partiers, Republicans - shame on us all for being the party of hate! This is the main difference I see between the two political ideologies - one side is trying to reach out to the others, educate them about whats going on, while the other side is filled with venomous hate. I'll leave it to you to figure out which party is which.

Prosperity Preacher Is Going Down

From the New York Times:

...Bishop Long’s reputation and sprawling enterprises now stand threatened by a sex scandal.

Four former members of a youth group he runs have accused him of repeatedly coercing them into homosexual sex acts, and of abusing his considerable moral authority over them while plying them with cash, new cars, lodging and lavish trips.

So whats the story?  A "preacher" (I shudder to use that title concerning him) who claims that God wants us all to prosper is now being accused by multiple individuals for sexual coercion - homosexual sex to boot. I don't know him personally, but when I read about his lavish lifestyle and what he preaches, I wasn't surprised in the least. *Side note to liberals, this isn't because he's black*

While trying to justify his $3 million salary, he stated:

We’re not just a church, we’re an international corporation,” he told the newspaper in justifying his compensation. “We’re not just a bumbling bunch of preachers who can’t talk and all we’re doing is baptizing babies. I deal with the White House. I deal with Tony Blair. I deal with presidents around this world. I pastor a multimillion-dollar congregation.”

This very comment shows what type of person he is.  He doesn't run a church, he runs a corporation.  He doesn't care about spreading the gospel and baptizing new believers, no, he cares about hobnobbing with the elites. His congregation isn't a flock - people God has trusted to him to nurture, mature and feed. No, they're just money as far as he's concerned.

But then again, this is how it goes with all of those who preach "prosperity."  Benny Hinn has been shown ever and over again to be a false prophet, yet he lives a lavish lifestyle. And although I don't necessarily support Wikipedea for conservative issues, they're on top of things when attacking anything with a "Christ" label attached. Just click here for a list of recent scandals concerning "Christian evangelists" [sic]. What do the majority have in common? Sexual deprivation and a lust for money.  They also claim to be either "prophets," that they can "heal," or that God promotes "material prosperity."

However, the truth is that God never promised financial wealth.  Matthew chapter 6, verses 19 through 21 states:

Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

Indeed, an honest examination of the scriptures reveals that God places His emphasis on the treasures of the spirit, not of the treasures of this world.

Although it saddens my heart to see people like Mr. Long abuse God's word and twist it to their own means, it sickens me to see all of those who blindly follow.  All one needs to do to avoid people like him is open their bibles and do a little study.  Unfortunately, like the blind leading the blind (and liberals following Obama), they'd rather believe what their told, instead of looking for the truth themselves.

That said, my heart goes out to the victims of Mr, Long - not just those who were coerced into sex, but all of those who have followed the message given by this man of Satan.

Take America Back! November is coming!

Eric Holder's DoJ

A high ranking member of Eric Holder's DoJ is coming forward blasting the department's racial bias. Its good to see more people speaking up, but the question to ask is: will anything be done about that bias?

From Fox News:
The Justice Department is ignoring civil rights cases that involve white victims and wrongly abandoned a voter intimidation case against the New Black Panther Party last year, a top department official testified Friday. He called the department's conduct a "travesty of justice."

Christopher Coates, former voting chief for the department's Civil Rights Division, spoke under oath Friday morning before the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights, in a long-awaited appearance that had been stonewalled by the Justice Department for nearly a year.

Why the stone walling, Mr. Holder?  Would you care to comment?  Obviously not.  However, it doesn't take much for Americans to understand.  The real reason is that you are a racist.  You are exactly what Obama wanted and has surrounded himself with.  You hate whites.  Admit it.

Coates discussed in depth the DOJ's decision to dismiss intimidation charges against New Black Panther members who were videotaped outside a Philadelphia polling place in 2008 dressed in military-style uniforms -- one was brandishing a nightstick -- and allegedly hurling racial slurs.

The incident in question was recorded on this video:

If that isn't a case of voter intimidation, I don't know what is.  You have a couple of toughs standing right in front of the polling entrance with one of them brandishing a nightstick. Yet the DoJ dropped the case.  Why?

The Bush Justice Department first brought the case against three members of the group, accusing them in a civil complaint of violating the Voting Rights Act. The Obama administration initially pursued the case and at one point won a default judgment, but the administration last year moved to dismiss the charges after getting one of the New Black Panther members to agree not to carry a "deadly weapon" near a polling place until 2012.

So, the DoJ had won the default argument (the reason being that the Black Panthers refused to show up to court - snubbing their noses at America's laws), but then dismissed the case because Obama was promised that they wouldn't carry a deadly weapon near a polling place until 2012. Is Obama saying that its ok for the Black Panthers to intimidate voters during the next presidential elections?

Coates dismissed as weak the department's rationale for abandoning the case, saying the department let one of the Black Panther members off the hook because a local police officer had determined he was a Democratic Party poll watcher. Coates called it "extraordinarily strange" for the department to rely on this and urged the commission to consider what the legal backlash would have been if the Panthers had been members of the Ku Klux Klan.

Indeed, let us ponder that for a moment.  Those who are involved in the Tea Party movement are routinely slandered as racist bigots for protesting Obama. Yet their protests are non-violent and even the counter protesters can't tall us what they are protesting.

However, a couple of black thugs who stand outside of a polling place intimidating voters are let off without even a slap on the hand.

Read the entire Fox News article here.

In the mean time, Holder is attacking anti-abortion protesters who aren't even blocking the entrance to the clinic. The truth is that the Obama administration is the most corrupt in the history of these United States.  He has surrounded himself with goons whose main purpose is to attack the good, freedom loving citizens of this country, while allowing thugs from groups such as the Black Panthers and SEIU to intimidate and attack those who oppose his views.  Why?

You tell me.

Its Good to be the King - Revisited

We have a president who takes vacations almost weekly, a first lady who takes friends to Spain over the death of one of their friends, a government that has taken over an auto industry, the banking industry, the health industry and seeks to set its hands on even more power. Our "leaders" use class warfare by calling their opponents bigots, racists, tea baggers and what have you.  And of course, our economy is in the dumps.

All of this has brought to memory an entry that I wrote in October of last year.  What I wrote then still stands.  It's called, "It's good to be the king!"

----------------------

The United States is bogged down in a war in Afghanistan where it’s military leaders are yelling for more troops. The Dollar has plunged in value due to the result of numerous failed “bailouts,” massive printing of new money, and the exodus of businesses nation wide. Citizens are up in arms over closed door meetings where socialists are trying to force government health care upon them. Cap and trade raises it’s ugly head. Fox News, Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck as well as innumerable others are being outright attacked by the White House and it’s cronies. Indeed, America is struggling to hold on to its identity during one of the greatest attacks ever upon its very existence.

Yet the Obamas are enjoying the highlife.

From the AP:

As it happens, music of all sorts — rock, jazz, country, classical — has been busting out of the White House all year long.

Presidents have long used the White House as a platform to showcase the best of music and the arts: Chester Arthur staged the first formal East Room concert in the late 1800s.

But the Obamas are demonstrating a commitment to use the White House to promote the arts in a huge way. And they're not just tapping safe, living legends: Fresh faces like bachata band Aventura and Mexican pop sensation Thalia (who lured Obama on to the dance floor briefly) shared a stage with gray eminence Jose Feliciano at last week's Fiesta Latina.

The Obamas' musical push started on Day One, when the Wynton Marsalis Quintet played for a private inaugural celebration party of 100 at the White House.

A month later, the White House brought in Earth, Wind and Fire to entertain visiting governors. And days later, the Obamas hosted an East Room tribute to Stevie Wonder that featured Tony Bennett, Martina McBride and Wonder himself. The president called it "the most accomplished Stevie Wonder cover band in history."

Since then, the lineup has zigzagged all over the musical spectrum.

In addition, the Obama’s (joined by Oprah Winfrey) took separate jets to Copenhagen in a failed bid to bring the Olympics to Chicago.

Michelle Obama has taken numerous shopping trips from downtown D.C. for fresh produce, a spending spree in Paris as well as London, to efforts in redecorating the White House with purchases from the Pottery Barn (and others). All of this is hard work for the First Lady. Thankfully, she has a personal staff off 22 assistants. While in the throws of all of this spending, Mrs. B.O. laments the status of the poor. Indeed.

There are other nations whom come to mind when I ponder their rulers spending money like there is no tomorrow while their citizens suffer. Ghana, Nigeria, Mauritania, Gambia, Iraq under Saddam Hussein with his opulent palaces and other toys, as well as Somalia are just some of the nations.

An article written by M.A. Jama on Somalilandglobe.com describes how African dictators have risen to power. The following paragraph practically yelled at me for attention:

African Dictators, when they are hurting, believe they are healing, when they are destroying they believe they are building. The road to dictatorships starts with nationalistic slogans and the creation of common enemy to rally against, real or hoax. Rivals are branded as traitors and agents of the enemy of the state or the revolution. Opponents are constantly harassed and intimidated. Legislative and judiciary branches of the state, if they exist at all, are rendered powerless or rubber stamps. Elections are first postponed then either cancelled due to non-existent security reason or the opposition parties are declared illegal and banned. State of emergency and curfews are the norm. The enemy number one is the independent media, opposition parties’ leaders/individuals and those who tell the truth. They arrest them and prosecute them publicly. When they succeed in that first test, the next stage is banning political parties and independent social groups altogether, nationalize all private enterprises and rule by decree. Once fear and terror are subjected to the intelligentsia, the masses voluntarily surrender and start singing the praise of the dictator. Next is the establishment of a fast network of secret prison system where those who are lucky enough to not be send to the gallows are condemned for life. In the final stage of achieving absolute Dictatorship a new cadre of leaders are handpicked not because of their ability and skills but because of their loyalty to the dictator and they start showering the dictator with praise, and they order the masses to hang his pictures everywhere. New songs are composed in praise of the leader. Those who surround around him compete for his attention like children and they always tell him what they think he likes to hear but not the reality in the country. They start spying among each other to win the confidence of the leader. They hold trumped-up presidential election where the leader is elected for life. He is declared the all knowing, the wisest, and the father of the nation. Now he does not let others make any decisions because he feels he is the most qualified, experienced and the wisest. He does not recognize the knowledge of others and ignores their contribution. This is the last stage and the mental state of the dictator is not stable, he is lonely, he mistrusts those who surround him and paranoia and psychosis set in. – Emphasis Mine

I ask you, does any of this seem familiar to you? Does anyone come to mind in today’s America who seems to fit the bill? Is there someone that children sing songs about? Is there someone who has placed innumerable people in positions of power (unelected and unconfirmed) that support him whole-heartedly? Is there someone who tried to create a national slogan while harassing opponents? Is there a person here in America who is attacking independent media as well as talk show hosts and independent bloggers? Has someone in the United States asked citizens to spy upon one another? Does this same person have any connections to Africa?

There was a comedy made years ago by a famous comedian and director. One of the scenes in it depicts a French King living an opulent life style, chasing after women, and indulging in other decadent activities. While this was happening, the citizens of France were suffering from starvation and injustice. The comedian/director is Mel Brooks. The movie is “History of the World: Part 1.” The quote to remember is – “It’s good to be the king!” Indeed.

Netflix - Anti-American?

Reed Hastings thinks that Americans are "self-absorbed"

Update 9/23/10 6:40pm - I just received a response to my email.  However, it was a generic apology which pointed me to a blog entry on the Netflix site.

The email I received is as follows:

Dear Mr. Damon;

Thank you for your email. We appreciate you taking the time to provide us with your feedback and comments.

Please visit the Netflix Blog for an update regarding the comment that was made: http://blog.netflix.com/2010/09/apologies.html

Once again, we thank you for your feedback.

Best,

Elena Mukhin

Netflix, Inc.

Note, the horrible formatting is an exact replica of the email.  I did not put in all those blank lines.  For those of you who want to read the apology without having to jump pages, here it is:

Apologies

My Big American Foot in is my mouth. Yesterday, I made an awkward joke with a reporter in Toronto about Americans (like me) being self-absorbed relative to Netflix pricing in Canada. I was wrong to have made the joke, and I do not believe that one of the most philanthropically-minded nations in the world (America) is self-absorbed or full of self-absorbed people. The pricing Netflix is offering in Canada, $7.99 per month, does not include any DVD-by-mail option, and that is why it is cheaper than our $8.99 USA plan which has both DVD-by-mail and streaming in one plan. We are looking at adding a streaming-only option for the USA over the coming months. My apologies to anyone offended by my self-absorbed comment. Sincerely, -Reed

Posted by Reed Hastings at 3:27 PM

The issue, Mr. Hastings, was not in the price difference nor services provided.  The issue was with your comments concerning America as a whole which proceeded to upset many of your subscribers, and by the looks of the remarks left on your blog, you've lost quite a few of them.

As of now, considering how hard it was to find this apology, the generic email response, and how you "joked" about your customer base, I'm still pondering whether or not to continue my subscription.  I have enjoyed the streaming, but I don't want to give my money to anyone who treats his nation and customer base as you have.

Update 9/23/10 5:18pm - Having discovered that Hastings' email is reed.hastings@netflix.com (as listed in the comments section of The Hollywood Reporter), I proceeded to send him this email:

Mr. Hastings,

I am responding to the comment you made earlier concerning:  "How much has it been your experience that Americans follow what happens in the world? It's something we'll monitor, but Americans are somewhat self-absorbed."  I am a blogger, I have posted a question to the Netflix forum and have blogged about my experience here:http://thetroubledpatriot.blogspot.com/2010/09/netflix-anti-american.html.  My readers and I would appreciate a prompt response from you concerning this.  Is this truly how you feel?  Why did you make this comment?  Care to retract it and apologize?

Sincerely,

Philip Damon
The Troubled Patriot Blog
Netflix subscriber (but perhaps not for long?)

I urge you to contact him as well in a polite and respectful manner.  If I get a response, I'll post it here.  I also ask that you share any that you receive.

Original post below

Drudge recently posted a link to an article from The Hollywood Reporter which contained an interview with Netflix's CEO Reed Hastings concerning their new operations in Canada.

THR: Are you concerned that American Netflix subscribers will look north and ask for the same discount Canadians get at $7.99?

Hastings: How much has it been your experience that Americans follow what happens in the world? It's something we'll monitor, but Americans are somewhat self-absorbed.

I am a Netflix subscriber and have referred others to their service. However, I am an American first and foremost.  I logged into Netflix seeking for a way to contact the company to leave a complaint.  However, there was no email option for me to do so.  I ended up calling their customer service, and the only contact information I was given was Netflix's Facebook page.  I tried posting my comment on the page's wall, but it was immediately removed.  Thus, I was forced to post my complaint to the forum here.

For a company that started service in America, to have its CEO blast Americans in such a way, is to me an incredible insult.  I have demanded a response from Hastings, but I am unsure as to what will occur.  I will keep you posted on what happens.

I do know this, if Hastings refuses to retract his comment and apologize - publicly, I will cancel my membership and encourage others to do so as well. The Troubled Patriot refuses to support or endorse anyone with an anti-American agenda.

Boom - "No big deal!"

Obama thinks America can absorb this

Bob Woodward, author of All the President's Men, has a new book out on Obama called Obama's Wars. In it are some frank discussions of the president and his inner circle.  What struck me most in the Washington Post's review by Steve Luxenberg was this:

Woodward's book portrays Obama and the White House as barraged by warnings about the threat of terrorist attacks on U.S. soil and confronted with the difficulty in preventing them. During an interview with Woodward in July, the president said, "We can absorb a terrorist attack. We'll do everything we can to prevent it, but even a 9/11, even the biggest attack ever . . . we absorbed it and we are stronger."

Mr. President, tell that to the families of the victims of 9-11.  Ask them how we're stronger.  Ask the citizens of New York if we're stronger as you and your commie buddies are trying to force a mosque down their throats - a mosque where a building was damaged in the attack and where the project was originally named the "Cordoba Project" in reference to the "victory mosque" built in Spain. Ask parents who find their children being indoctrinated in public schools about the "peaceful religion of Islam" [sic]. Ask the every day citizen who is assaulted by the so-called "security" in airports where X-rays strip them down, mothers are forced to drink their own breast milk, and the elderly are treated as the worst terrorists - ask them if we're stronger.

Of course, you and the elites like yourself consider the citizens of America to be sheep, thus the slaughter of a few million is no big deal.  After all, "we can absorb [it]." What does it matter to you if there is a mushroom cloud over L.A., Seattle, Phoenix (you'd probably prefer one over Phoenix), or New York?  As long as it doesn't happen over D.C., right?

Mr. President, we can't absorb a single death!  We went to war over the bombing of Pearl Harbor.  We went to war over 9-11 (until you and your ilk took control).  The American people will go to war over any attack on our soil.  What's more, we'll string your hide from the highest tree if you let this nation "absorb [an attack]." Now get off your ass, stop trying to get illegals some form of amnesty, and defend our borders!

Another Ally of the Ground Zero Mosque is Revealed

From JihadWatch:

[Mahdi Bray] says the video [below] was...wait for it..."taken out of context." There is no context in which I would express enthusiastic support for Hamas and Hizballah, but Mahdi Bray is no doubt much more versed than I am in matters of "context," since Muslim spokesmen are forever claiming that non-Muslims are quoting them, or the Qur'an, without due regard for it. So judge for yourself. Is Mahdi Bray's support for Hamas and Hizballah in the video [below] benign in context?

A Victory, Sort Of

Leave it to the Democrats to include pro-homosexual legislation and back door amnesty in a defense bill. McCain rightfully blasted Reid for the inclusions.

The Hill reports:

McCain, who led the GOP filibuster, blamed Reid for the standoff. He mentioned the “Don’t ask, don’t tell” language and the DREAM Act, which would provide a pathway to citizenship for the children of illegal immigrants if those children serve in the military or attend college. Reid had pledged to bring up the DREAM Act as an amendment to the defense bill.

The thing is, any legal immigrant under a visa or what have you can gain permanent citizen status already by serving in the military. The question to ask is why would an illegal wish to serve if they're not willing to go through the citizenship process?  Would you feel safe and secure knowing that criminals are protecting you?  I know I wouldn't. This was also an obvious attempt to patronize the homosexual lobby by trying to allow openly gay people as soldiers. Whats next? Pink uniforms, assless leather chaps and whips being included in the military dress uniform code?

Indeed, leave it to the Democrats to risk harm to our military so that their far left agendas can be thrust down the throats of American citizens. Hopefully, the slime balls in congress can pass a funding bill for our military without all that other crap. Our nation, our military and our civilians deserve better.

As a side note, Reid voted against the bill (obviously so he can bring it up at a later date) but so did two other Democrats - Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor.  As the article mentions, Lincoln is up for re-election and is trailing badly in the poles.  So of course she'd vote this down.  She knows what America wants. Yet the sad truth is, if she wasn't up for re-election, she'd vote for the bill.  Politicians!

Kamal Saleem

There is a new network called the Right Network. It deals with conservative issues and fills the gap left by all the left wing/progressive media currently in production.  I've been watching it for the past few days (streaming on-line) and recently ran into a show about Kamal Saleem.  Born a Muslim and trained a terrorist, he shares his story of how he found freedom through love.  Below is the link to the streaming episode on-line.  I highly suggest that you watch it.  It may move your heart - just as it has moved mine.

In The Red Chair: Kamal Saleem - Episode 1

Helen Thomas Recieves Life Time Achievement Award from Hamas linked CAIR

From The Hill:

The longtime White House correspondent who resigned from Hearst newspapers in June in the wake of comments she made about Israel will receive a lifetime achievement award from the Council on American-Islamic Relations.

One wonders why CAIR would give Thomas this achievement.  Perhaps it was because

Thomas advised Israeli Jews to "get the hell out of Palestine" and "go home" to Poland, Germany, America and "everywhere else."

That comment proved to be the millstone on her career as she was forced into retirement soon afterward. CAIR itself has been and is currently under the crosshairs of federal investigators as well as independent scholars and researchers who have gone on to show how the organization is anything but a moderate Muslim group.

Indeed, CAIR is an indicted co-conspirator with the Holy Land Foundation terrorist support group. That it deems Thomas worthy of praise and recognition speaks volumes concerning all parties involved.

Go here to see the profiles of prominent CAIR members

Good job, Thomas  I bet you're proud!

They're Coming After You!

Taking a stand for morality, the Obama Administration is directing aim against those who oppose his regime.  From the New York Times:

WASHINGTON — President Obama’s political advisers, looking for ways to help Democrats and alter the course of the midterm elections in the final weeks, are considering a range of ideas, including national advertisements, to cast the Republican Party as all but taken over by Tea Party extremists, people involved in the discussion said.

Of course, this really isn't anything new considering the Administration's attack on Conservatives, Christians, military vets, etc. via the Dept. of Homeland Security's terrorist watch list that was leaked a year or so ago.  Also worth recalling is the email address the Obama White House had set up for progressives to narc on those who opposed the President's agenda. However:

Late Sunday night, White House advisers denied that a national ad campaign was being planned. “There’s been no discussion of such a thing at the White House” or the Democratic National Committee, said David Axelrod, Mr. Obama’s senior adviser.

Sure....

At the Democratic National Committee, aides already have started work on a database to link the most controversial statements of the Tea Party-backed candidates to possible Republican presidential aspirants.

As someone once said, "Don't piss down my back and tell me its raining."  Read the entire article here.

Eric Holder Protects U.S. From Terrorists

Oops, maybe not. From the Palm Beach Post:

U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder is seeking an injunction preventing Mary Susan Pine from entering any driveway leading to the clinic and anyone associated with her from blocking women from entering the center where abortions are performed.

If he is successful, the 58-year-old West Palm Beach woman also could face a $10,000 fine.

Of course, protecting voters from the intimidation tactics of thugs such as the New Black Panthers or protecting the citizens of this country from the invasion by illegal immigrants is not as important, as far as Holder is concerned. In fact, he's refused to order an investigation of the Panthers and has filed lawsuits against the state of Arizona and Sheriff Joe Arpaio.

But fear not!  He will protect abortionists from people who protest next to the exit driveway of the facility!

But, Staver said, she doesn't remember ever physically blocking a car outside the clinic, as Holder is charging. Further, he said, she told him she doesn't stand where Holder alleges the confrontation took place. She prefers to stand by the exit driveway because the entrance also leads to a Wendy's and she doesn't want to waste her time talking to people stopping for burgers.

And it looks like he's just getting started...

Holder also may not be done suing protesters who gather outside Presidential.

In the lawsuit, he describes Pine as "one of two protesters."

Staver said the wording makes him suspect another person may soon be sued.

Racist Woman Questions the Great One(tm)

A town hall questioner proved how much of a racist she was by daring to question the President concerning the economy of this nation.  Watch for Eric Holder to use the Department of Justice to start an investigation of her.

Remembering 9-11

Last year, I did a tribute post for David D. Alger as well as a remembrance for all the victims and heroes of that horrible day. I'm re-posting here to once more honor them.

--------

How does one perform an adequate tribute to the life of a man?  How does one reach out, and through meager words, attempt to describe the life of one who has touched many?  Though an entire library of books may be written, they would not do justice concerning that individual. As a writer, I have come to the stark conclusion that words become insufferably inadequate when they attempt to speak of David D. Alger. However, this is a task that I have humbly undertaken.

David Alger was born on December 15, 1943.  He entered into the world during a time of crisis.  It seems almost prophetic that he would leave the world at the beginning of another.  Born in California, he grew up in Gross Pointe, Michigan. He attended Harvard University where he majored and then graduated with a diploma in history.  He then went on to the University of Michigan where he not only received his M.B.A, but would eventually earn the Alumni Achievement Award which “recognizes alumni of the Business School whose attainments in their professional fields have brought distinction to themselves, credit to the School and benefit to their fellow citizens.”

In 1968, he started his career as a securities analyst.  With talent promoted by hard work and strong ethics, he quickly ascended the corporate ladder.  By September of 2001, he was the executive vice president and chief financial officer of Fred Alger Management.

David made numerous appearances on financial shows.  A common place to find him was on CNBC’s Squawkbox.  Not content to follow the common practices of others, he developed a successful, yet unorthodox program that involved computer modeling.

Although his professional life was indeed impressive, it was through his personal character that he truly shined.  While researching the life of this great man, I came across numerous testimonies written by those who knew him.  What they wrote of was not his business achievements, though they were many, but of his character.  Some of those tributes can be found at the David D. Alger Guest Book hosted by legacy.com.

Katie Quinn Harvey described an instance where a client became irate and proceeded to curse over the phone.  She went on to write:

He (David) let me put the call through and told the man that he could have his money back from the fund and if he ever spoke to his staff again in an disrespectful manner that he'd "head butt him"...he then called me at my desk and asked if I was okay. He praised me for my patience with this man and apologized that I had to deal with him at all and assured me it had been taken care of….This big powerful man actually cared about the lowly new phone rep.

Lissette Morales wrote:

Mr. Alger: You always had a smile on your face and always were interested in talking to my parents and me. You have always treated us with respect and kindness and have inspired me in more ways than you can imagine.

Patricia (Pat) Whalen, whose daughter also lost her life on that fateful day, wrote:

My daughter had been hired by David to begin working at the firm upon her graduation from UofM in April 2000. So when she had asked if I wanted to come and meet her future boss, I didn't hesitate. I attended that evening and was amazed to learn what a kind, caring, and loving person he was. Upon seeing us enter the room, he hurried over to greet her with a BIG hug and said, "I wondered if you would be here tonight!" As Meredith's father had died when she was 11 and her sister was 9, it warmed my heart to know another caring male figure would be in her young life--and that she would not be just a "faceless" employee in just another firm in NYC.

There are countless other stories by individuals who were touched by David.  As it is not my place to list them all here, I implore you to go and read them for yourself.  They paint the picture of a man who was not aloof in his concerns for his company.  A charismatic man, he truly cared for each individual employee.  People who worked under him were not treated as mere numbers, but as individuals who mattered.  If only more employers would learn from the example set by him.

Not much could be found concerning his personal life, and perhaps that is best.  Yet it does not take a leap of faith to conclude that he was a loving husband, father and son.  Known for his bear hugs, the depth of love that he held for his family as well as the affection they held in return cannot be fathomed.

On that fateful September 11th morning in 2001, David was with other Alger employees on the 93rd floor of the North Tower.  The first to be struck, none who occupied it had any inclination that this vicious attack was about to take place.

In the aftermath of the attack and our resulting loss of this great man, the University of Michigan renamed the “Alumni Achievement Award” to the “David D. Alger Alumni Achievement Award.”  A fine tribute, it encourages others to follow in his gigantic footsteps.

David D. Alger is survived by his wife and two daughters, as well as his brother and sister.  It is my profound wish that the legacy he started will endure well into the unforeseeable future.

Our Lady of Freedom
Copyright 2009 by Philip Damon

Born in conflict this nation was,
A hope for the world to see.
A fight for freedom from tyranny's jaws,
By a people who must be free.

A nation to be ruled by a people as one,
No matter what the cost.
So off we sent our daughters and sons,
That this freedom would not be lost.

Freedom called, the nations bled,
As evil played its hand.
So America took this world and led,
The charge on foreign sand.

From France to England to the Philippines,
Our nation rose as one.
An army of boys still in their teens,
Sacrificed all 'till freedom was won.

Terror struck our heart one day,
And mothers learned to weep.
Then Americans rose with one voice to say,
"Our freedom we will keep!"

Through wars and strife our flag yet stands,
Its stars and stripes revealed.
Not on our knees nor on our hands,
Will this nation ever yield!

Remember today the cost that was paid,
The price for freedoms held dear.
Many bodies in graves were laid,
So that our citizens would never fear.

Tyrants and rulers hide in terror,
As America raises her fists.
This lady is our standard-bearer,
Flag held by unbending wrists.

Through wars and strife our flag yet stands,
Its stars and stripes revealed.
Not on our knees nor on our hands,
Will this nation ever yield!

We were all touched by the events of this fateful day.  For me, it happened to land on my birthday.  I was sleeping when my ex-wife came in, her shoulders moving to the gasps of her sobs.  She told me that one of the Twin Towers had been hit.  I rushed out of bed and sat in front of the television.  I watched as the second tower was struck.

Throughout the day I stayed glued to the television, my emotions   ranging from extreme anger to soul rending sorrow.  I watched Palestinians cheering in the streets.  I viewed live footage of people covered in dust as they staggered from destruction. I watched people jump to their deaths, preferring that to being slowly roasted alive.

In the aftermath, Americans throughout the country united together under the heroic call of, "Lets roll!"  Countless men and women joined the military, while flags hung from homes as a silent testimony to our resolve.

Two-thousand, Nine-hundred and Ninety-six people perished on that day - more then the attack on Pearl Harbor.  Unlike Pearl Harbor, this wasn't an attack on military personal only, but also on American civilians.

For me, today is a solemn day of remembrance.  I will relive the stories of those who sacrificed their lives so that others may live.  I will hold my head low and thank the families of those who endured what none ever should.  Then when the day draws to a close, my spirit will be emboldened with a new love for this country.

The following are the names of all those who died on that fateful day.  Never forget.
